What did kids use to write with in the days of the American colonies? Join us to discover the surprising science behind the ink that helped write early American history! Learn how tiny gall wasps, oak trees, and a bit of chemistry came together to create iron gall ink -- the writing ink people used for centuries.
We’ll also talk about how people shared messages long before texting and email. Then kids will try their hand at writing the old-fashioned way with a real quill. Best of all, everyone gets to take their quill home! Dress for mess.
Bring along your summer reading log or pick one up at the circulation desk. Each program you attend counts as a day of reading. Earn free books by reading or attending library programs five days each week. No registration required, but space is limited. This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.
