Event Details

Presented by Jim Sawgrass, this program invites audiences of all ages to discover the rich traditions of Florida’s Native American communities. The presentation explores the Indigenous people who lived in Florida long before European arrival and highlights the vibrant cultures of the Seminole and Mikasuki tribes today. Visitors will hear engaging stories while viewing artifacts, tools, animal skins, and other cultural items that bring this history to life. Mr. Sawgrass, a native Floridian of Muscogee Creek (Mvskoke) descent and a living historian of the southeastern tribes, has shared his knowledge for more than 30 years, offering a memorable and authentic look into Florida’s Native American heritage.
